My family is lifting up all of you in prayer during this very sad and difficult time. I knew Brie in high school and I always admired her for her strong faith and the love she had for her family and friends. I pray that God comforts the families and wraps his loving arms around Eric, their daughters, and their precious newborn son. - Tara Rust (Ballew) and family.

My husband and I do not know your family either but we feel your pain so deeply. We lost an 18 year old son in a tragic car accident and can understand the deep pain your hearts are in. May our dear Heavenly Father comfort you all and may this scripture help you as it did us: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation,that we may be able to comfort those in any sort of tribulation through the comfort with which we ourselves are being comforted by God."-2 Cor. 1:3,4

My heart is broken for you all. Brie is the reason why I can trust today in the knowledge that God’s plan is perfect even when we don’t understand. She introduced me to the LOVE of Jesus and the truth of His perfect plan. Her guidance into that relationship is the single best thing that has happened in my life. He, through Brie, changed everything for me and I know I am certainly not the only one she touched SO very deeply. I keep a note in my bible that Brie sent to me shortly after we met. In it, she begins by offering her sweet hand in friendship and then goes on to say, “I wanted to share this card with you, too. This peak is the mountain my dad and I climbed together! (and also my step-mom took this picture) It’s special to me.” She also shared this verse, “Jesus says in John 10:10 “… I came that [Kristi} may have life, and have it abundantly”. Thanks to Brie, I am living an abundant life through Jesus Christ and work hard each day to extend my hand in friendship to someone who needs to know Him!

My deepest heartfelt sympathy to each of you and I will borrow Brie’s signature from the card I so treasure because she taught me the importance of these perfect words…

“I’m praying for you – always. Love, Brie”

In Him,
Kristi Barker

P.S. -- Eric & family,
I would really like to have Brie's blog printed and bound into a book for you; however, I wonder if you already have one or if someone is already taking care of this for you. If you want me to go forward with printing the blog, please let me know (kbarker@southplainscollege.edu) and I would be honored. **

AS I lay my own children down at night, I have had such a heavy, heavy humble heart. Jerimiah 29:11 comes to mind. I feel that the Lord was speaking to Brie's spirit that morning when she made her last blog. I have been touched by tragedy myself and know the Lord's power and learned first hand of His character. Her destiny was fulfilled here on Earth. Yes, what a terrible tragedy. The Lord will make good on His promises. He WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU nor FORSAKE you. You guys are so close to His heart now, He will bring you peace and strength. I watched Brie push her little one in a stroller, with her kindergartener close to her as well, every morning to school. Had no idea what a legacy she would bring and how the Lord will touch many through her life. We don't know you personally, but we have shed many, many tears for you. We are lifting you up, and proclaiming God's promises over you and your little ones. He is with you, He is CLOSE to the broken hearted. Our deepest, deepest sympathy.

Just a stranger who stumbled on Brie's blog from a prayer request on another blog. I wish I had more to offer than prayers, and my favorite poem that someone once shared with me:

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there. I did not die.

What a special woman Brie was. I didn't know her or her precious family; I only heard of this tragedy through a mutual friend's Facebook update. I spent a full 8 hours at work today reading her blog. What a humble, loving, beautiful person she clearly was, and what a wonderful gift her writings and photos will be to her 3 children to treasure forever.

I'm just heartbroken for your family. I've followed this blog from time to time through a mutual friend, Kristi Barker. My husband is also a coach. -Just a few connections.... Our most important connection, though, is Jesus. Our mutual friend Kristi, inspires me to be closer to Jesus any time I get to see and be around her. I did not know Brie is who changed her life until now. So you see, because Brie changed Kristi's life, Kristi's witness has strengthened my walk. And I'm sure both of these women have changed the lives of many many others. Thank God for Brie's life.

My heart goes out to you, as God has orchestrated that I saw Brie's name in two places tonight -- places I rarely "go": The AJ website and then another blog, which mentioned Brie's death. I know that I know that I know my God has caused your path and mine to cross now, though never before. May He hold you and protect you with that very sweet sovereignty that is His alone.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.~ Palsms:23

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Colossians 1:15-20

Our Pastor told us last Sunday that "we can grieve, but grieve with hope"!

My family doesn't know yours, but we used to live in Amarillo and heard of this thru a friend on Facebook who is advertising for the benefit at Rosa's...

Anyway, our prayers are with you. I am so sorry for your loss. This story has touched my heart.

My friend wrote this poem at the age of 12 before she died suddenly. I hope it brings you comfort...

Sunshine and Rain

No life is useless and no day is vain,
For God has a purpose for sunshine and rain.
All are discouraged, and everyone cries,
But we're never alone beneath cloudy skies.
All hearts can break...they're fragile as glass,
But God will mend them, and this too shall pass.
Sometimes we succeed, and sometimes we fail,
So follow your dream whatever the trail,
For no one's a loser who gives it his best,
And you can stand tall above all the rest.
Those who are faithful are noble at heart,
And no life is useless when God has a part.
Be swift to give praises and slow to complain...
God has a purpose for sunshine and rain.
